I have Exciting News

I have decided that I don’t want to be just another fish in the sea, I want to make waves. I have never settled at an average life and now that I am graduating college that is exactly what I am afraid of becoming. So in order to prevent that from happening I have decided I want to take ACTION.

I want 2017 to be the best year of my life yet and in order for that to happen I don’t want to sit back and wait for opportunities to approach me. So I have decided to further pursue my ‘career’ in blogging my starting my own blog. Yes that is correct.

Im starting my own blog!

I have decided to launch my own website which will host my blog and be an upgraded and even better version of my blog today. In January 2017 I will have my blog on the internet to share with all of you. I know it is going to take a lot of work and dedication but I truly love blogging and want to continue as I take the next big step in my life after college.

In a little over three months I will have been blogging for a year and I want to continue for many more year. Blogging means a lot to me, while it is a lot of work on the back end it is totally worth it. Blogging inspires me to research and learn. It give me a creative outlet to share all my thought with other like minded people like myself. All of you motivate me to try new things in life and being able to share them with all of you makes it even better.

I have a lot of plans for my new blog and I hope all of you will continue with me on this lovely journey called life. I try appreciate each and every one of you. Reading your comments and seeing your support makes me so happy.

One of my main new years resolutions to create so much more content not only on my blog but also on my social media accounts as well.

So I would love all of your support and love it if you could comment something you want to see on my blog.

Life Update

When I was a kid my mom always told me that the older I get the faster time will fly. Well she is completely correct. 2016 is almost over and it has went so fast. I have been reflecting back on this year and it is hard to believe how much has changed in my life. This year was full of mile stones and while so much has happened this year I know next year will be just as exciting if not more.

I started out the year by turning 21. My birthday is January 10th so my birthday is what I get to look forward to after new years. I celebrated with my boyfriend. He planned the whole day with fun activities. We went to sky max, then later that night we went out for dinner and drinks.

Then in March I started my blog and I can honestly say it was a great idea. I haven’t been creating as much content as I would have liked but I decided I needed to do more research about blogging so I can make it better for you guys. I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone for supporting me and it truly means a lot to know that my hard work is helping others. You are truly the reason I blog and I have been working hard behind the scenes to make my blog better for you. So now that I am at a good point in my research I have a very exciting announcement to make about my blog that will be coming in the next couple weeks. If you enjoy my blog and want to continue on this wonderful journey with me keep an eye out for my exciting announcement.

In May my spring semester of my junior year came to an end and I celebrated by taking a week long trip to New York City. It was a good trip but I was happy to be home and back in the swing of things after a week.

I then spent my summer ‘break’ by getting ahead in school and taking classes, working at the pool, and working on my blog. I ended summer by taking another vacation. I went on a cruise to the Caribbean. It was the best vacation I have ever taken. Not only was the destination amazing but the people I went with made the trip even better. There was a group of ten of us who went and it was a blast the entire week.

Sadly the vacation came to an end all to quickly and school started once again in August, but this time I was excited to start the semester. This is my last semester in school and I will be graduating December 17th with my Bachelors of Science and Technology degree. My major is Organizational Supervision and while I was in a tough situation when I chose this degree I am glad I pursued it. Not only was this semester great because it was the last but I took some very interesting classes as well. My two favorite classes this semester were Ceramics: Introduction to throwing and Principals of Social media.

In September I decided to make a major life change and quit my job and start working for my family business. I am now working as their social media marketer when I am not busy with  school and will continue to work their after I graduate.

I also made my first adult purchase in October and bought myself a car. I got a 2016 Nissan Rogue. I was planning on buying a car after graduation but when my other car started to have transmission problems I had to expedite my purchase date.

Now it is December and I am finishing my last week of classes. This semester has went so fast. Graduating college is a bitter sweet moment. I am so excited to graduate but at the same time I am nervous because it means a new chapter of my life is starting. I have so many plans for after graduation that I cannot wait to share with all of you.

Why I Haven’t Been Blogging

I didn’t realize blogging would be so much work but it was love at first post.

I started this blog because I love to create things and wanted to share them with the world. When I first started my blog I made a long list of DIYs I wanted do and got so excited. As the weeks went on it seemed more like work and became less enjoyable so I left. I new I needed to take a step back and think about what I wanted this blog to be and where I was going to take it. Doing DIY after DIY because I needed a blog post turned my passion into a chore. I didn’t have the motivation or fun like I did when I first started. I knew I didn’t want to quit my blog but I didn’t know how I would continue. I finally realized my blog went from doing this for myself to doing it for other people. That is when I told myself I would blog for me. I would share not only my DIYs but my experiences. I have this amazing life I am living and to only share DIYs got boring quick.

So I re-evaluated and made a new plan.

I am still Createlynn but I am also Marissa. I have a life just like everyone else. I have some ups and downs and good times and bad. I realized that there are events happening in my life that many other people around the world may also be experiencing. So my new plan that I have is to have fun, make some awesome stuff, but also live, laugh, love/hate, and share life. I am going to add more lifestyle into my blog along with DIYs. So if you want to see more DIYs along with my life then follow my blog because I have some pretty cool stuff planned.

Funny Story/ Im horrible

This post is going to be about my week and how I am a horribly unorganized person. Basically I am going to be making fun of myself and giving you guys sneak previews of what is coming in the next couple weeks. Plus there is a little bonus behind the scenes of how I run my blog/life.

So where do I start hmmm… I guess with things I unfortunately have to do. Every day this week I have had school and work. If you didn’t know this or would like to know. I am a Lifeguard at the REC on campus and I work the opening shift. Unfortunately for me I have to wake up at 5 am (it really isn’t that bad) but this weekend I had four days off of school and work and my sleeping schedule got all messed up. I slept like crap. Usually I’m in bed between 10 and 11 pm and I think the earliest I got to bed all weekend was 12:30. Then on top of it I actually slept in for once, till 11 am. I can never do that! So my sleeping schedule got all messed up and now its Thursday and I was late to work this morning because I slept through my alarm. Then I had a meeting then I had to go straight to class. After class I usually have my after noons off so I have been working out and crafting and other fun summer activities. Well today I had a second shift and only had a short break after class. Yes incase you were wondering I am typing this at work. Don’t worry I am working the desk today so I am not lifeguarding right now. But yes basically I am very tired and I have been working on stuff all week getting ready for the weekend.

Next: Adulting and my life style change
I try very hard at this part but sometimes it gets little rough. As you all know I went to New York City a couple weeks ago and this week I finally unpacked my suitcase and decided I needed to do laundry. Actually my clothes decided I needed to do laundry or else I was going to have to get my winter clothes back out and its been in the high 80’s this week so no thank you. Finally after two days I got my laundry done. Someone really needs to invent a dryer that folds clothes. I also did some much needed cleaning around my house. Adulating? Check!
Also this week I ate some pretty healthy meals. I used apples and bananas for my snacks this week. I ate oatmeal or oatmeal bars for breakfast. Lunch was usually chicken and veggies or salad with chicken on it. One nutrient I have been trying to add into my diet this week is Omega 3. These help a lot with my acne and skin health. You can get this through fish as well as chia seeds and flax seeds. I have been putting chia seeds on my salad. You can also put them in your water, smoothies, bread, and a lot of other foods. They don’t have much flavor and when I do taste them they taste like sunflower seeds. Now that my gym is open again I can work out so I have an hour break between work and class so I am utilizing that free time to get an easy work out in. I have been doing some light lifting and cardio. I also add in an ab circuit. It is very simple but effective and I will share it with you. This doesn’t dramatically cut my stomach but it makes me sore and when I think it is getting easier I up the reps.

Ab work out: (I am not a personal trainer or fitness coach this is just what I do myself)
– 30 second plank
– 30 regular crunches
– 30 leg lifts
– 30 second plank
– 30 seconds of air flitter kicking
– 40 Russian twists
– 30 second plank

I also like to switch it up with a plank work out that I will post at a later time. The ab workout above it what I try to do three times a week. Its simple and short but effective. I don’t always do it when I am at the gym it all depends on my time and energy level at the time. What I like to do is do it during the commercial when Im watching tv. If you really want to hit abs hard you could do this workout every commercial during your favorite tv show. All you would have to do is change the reps so start by doing 50 of each at your own pace then work you way down every commercial. So do 50 reps the first commercial then 40, 30, 20, 10. If your show isn’t over and you want to keep the burn up then start going back up (10, 20,30,40).

Recently I have started making wreaths and selling them. I mostly sell them to people from my home town and in the area I live now. I haven’t sold many but I am working to sell more. I am lucky that my mom owns her own business and a lot of her customers buy things that I make. What I do is I take them home and she sells them for me. Thank you mom! This weekend I am going home for a visit and I am taking all my wreaths. I set a goal for myself to make ten wreaths this week and I am pretty close. Tonight I plan to finish up a couple and hopefully make a couple more tomorrow. Because I have been focusing on wreaths I haven’t made many other things and it is totally killing my creative vibe. So after these next two days I am taking a break from wreath making and getting back into some other stuff. I plan to do some fun summer DIYs and I am considering doing a five day series of summer DIY must haves. Like this post if you would like to see that.

Future posts (roughly)

First off I want to apologize for not posting my weekly DIYs. I know I have been slacking, no excuses. I know I have been making a lot of lifestyle posts lately and I am going to try to balance those out with DIY posts as well.

So this is where I get to share some of my secrets and behind the scenes to this blog. I usually put little planning into my posts. Mostly I have an idea, plan a tiny bit, type up my post, make some changes, and then publish it. I used to use my monthly calendar and plan out for the month what DIYs I was going to post and have them published by Monday. Now that summer has started and my schedule has changed I haven’t been doing that. Also my planner ran out since it was an academic planner. I live in my planner, it is the bible of my life. If any one ever wanted to stalk me or know all my secrets forget the diary just find my planner. To fix my no planner problem and save money I made my own planner. I found the templates on line and printed them out. I will be making a post about my DIY planner as soon as I have it all completed.

Along with my DIY planner I am going to make a post about 7 ways to be more productive.  For my post about being productive I did some research and planning. I watched videos, read articles, and even tracked what I did. As I was preparing for this post I realized that I am not very productive and fall victim to distractions, procrastinations, and multi tasking. Thats right multi-tasking diminishes productivity. I decided until I was more productive I would not make this post because I feel that it would have a better blog post if I was more productive. So I am putting in more effort in having productive days and getting stuff done.

As I mentioned earlier in the post I am planning on doing 5 days of summer DIY must haves. I am still working out the details of that post but I can tell you everything is going to be super cute and nothing like what I have done before. But that is all the sneak previews I am going to give you about that because I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

YouTube! YOUTUBE. YouTube?

I know. I know I have been writing about youtube a lot lately. Incase you didn’t know I am a millennial and I am going through the stereotypical millennial life crisis right now. I am graduating in six months and I have no fracking clue what I want to do after graduation. I am at the cross roads in my life between childhood and adult life and honestly it scares the crap out of me. I have been watching youtube since before it became big. I always wanted to have my own channel and create videos. When I was younger I even took videos of myself pretending to be a youtuber. Now that I am older and wiser, I have realized that I am 100% capable of having/making…Creating my own youtube channel. Once again I am scared. Its intimidating ok! I don’t know why it scares me and is so intimidating to me and blogging isn’t though. I honestly sit here and type my posts for anyone in the world to read as if I am sitting in a coffee shop talking to you as if we have know each other for years. When I blog I am eager to share ideas and even just tell you all whats going on in my life. Im not scared or worried what you will think. When it comes to me sitting in front of a camera and telling my life story for everyone to see and hear me then I get shy and clam up.

I know that if I create a channel there will be some haters or negative people but I also know that there will be far more positive people. I also hope that some of you would watch my videos and support me. I need to just gain the confidence to make that first video and upload it. Its a lot easier said than done though.

Well thats all for today. I know this post was long and I really appreciate it if you read the whole thing. Also if you did and red the part about youtube, comment a video you would like to see from me. It can be a DIY, about my life, even a blog I have already made just as a video. If you don’t have any requests then please comment some words of wisdom or motivation for me to start my channel. Remember I do this for you guys and love getting feedback from you. It truly makes my day a lot better when I get on my computer and see that you all like what I write.

Im Baaaaack!

Hello and a happy summer Monday to everyone. For some of you, well many of you the summer has not begin but for me it has. I know it has been a fat minute since I have posted something but here I am.

Incase you missed it, I was in New York City all last week. I had a lot of fun but I am happy to be back in quiet Ohio. I loved being in the city and went on many fun adventures. We boarded the mega bus Monday morning at 8 am and arrived in New York City Monday evening at about 6pm. We then participated in tourist activities throughout the week. I stayed in an apartment through Airbnb in Hells Kitchen. It was only about three blocks from time square making my week very exciting. I visited the new One World Observatory, took a fairy ride and saw the statue of liberty, went on a down town bus tour as well as a night bus tour. I ate a lot of good food and did some shopping. My favorite thing I did in NYC was see the Lion King on broadway. It was amazing!! If you have the chance to go see it I highly recommend it. My favorite shopping in NYC was the four story Forever 21 and all the Starbucks. There were so many Starbucks, one about every block. I was in coffee heaven. If you would like to see more pictures follow my Instagram @createlynndiy

I enjoyed my break from Ohio and was very happy I got away. The city is amazing to see but all the hustle and bustle just isn’t for me. If I had to hear another horn honk I was going to cut my ears off. Now that I am back I have many fun things in mind to share with all of you. I recently made a few wreaths and decided to see if they would sell. They sold very quick, so I am going to keep making them to have a little extra money. I plan to post them as I make them for all of you to see.

I don’t know if you guys like this or even care but I want to tell you whats going on in my live. I recently realized I have a lot of cameras. I want to put them to use through more than just blogging so I am setting myself a 30 day challenge. I am going to cary a camera with me for 30 day to take pictures and videos of what I do. Then I might possibly take my life and make it even more public by starting a youtube channel. I am currently in the process of trying to figure out what to do with my life and I figured why not explore all the options.

Also if you didn’t already know this I am a college student and today is the first day of summer classes. I am taking classes over the summer to get ahead in my studies and graduate early. By taking these classes I will hopefully graduate in December of 2016 and I am very excited about that. Our summer classes are broken up into 3 secessions of 5 weeks. This is the first secession and I am only taking one class, yoga. I am very excited.

In August I am going on a cruise with my boyfriend and I want to look good. I am hoping by taking yoga I will be more motivated to work out. I am also going to try to eat better and live just an over all healthier life style. I am not doing any crazy diet or exercise to see fast results like I have tried in the past. I am going to slowly change my life style in a realistic way that works with my schedule. If you would like me to create posts about my process like this post so I know that your interested.

Along with videos I am going to try to make more posts on here for all of you to see. Just a disclaimer to everyone I blog because I want to share my ideas with all of you. I craft because I enjoy it. Making a little extra money here and there is just an added bonus.I do not craft for an income and it is not my career. I enjoy crafting so much that I do it almost every day. I constantly making things that I don’t blog about. If you want to keep up with what  I am making follow my Instagram because I always post what I make. If you do not have an Instagram get one. There are so many people out there using it to share their life, ideas, and so many other things. Its a great way to get ideas and see new things.

I am going to work on some wreaths and keep you guys posted. Keep an eye out for a DIY post coming to you shortly. I will have it posted by Wednesday if not by Tuesday. Have a great week and keep crafting.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday my crafty creators! It is officially May and hopefully the flowers are starting to bloom. I wanted to tell you all about a few things going on in my life right and and give an apology in advance if you do not hear from me much in the next few weeks. I promise I am not going to drop of the face of the internet but I may not be on here 20/7 like I usually am.

As you might know I am a college student with a great love for crafting and getting creative. I one day hope to have a job involving some type of creative aspect. In order to do this I first need to get my degree which is the only reason I am spending so much money on college. For those of you that would like to know, I will be graduating in December of 2016 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Supervision. If you do not know what Organizational Supervision is, well it is basically the same as business management without the accounting aspect of it.

I am very excited to graduate and have worked so hard to get where I am today. I only have two semesters left after I finish this semester. Thankfully there is only this week and then finals week until summer. With the semester coming to an end and finals week coming up I will be very busy with school assignments. That being said I wanted to give you all a warning that I will not be as dedicated to my blog these next two weeks. I apologize to any one it offends that I am more dedicated to school than my blog at this current moment.

But the good news is I have worked very hard this weekend on projects and have several lined up to post these next couple weeks so don’t worry your creative minds will still have some DIYs to absorb. Also when this summer comes along I am going to be a lot more dedicated to my blog. I plan on making more consistent posts not only about DIYs but about things I am doing and adventures that Im taking.

This is where I would like a little feed back from the DIY/blogging/internet community. I am strongly considering adding vlogging to my blogging experiences. I would not stop making post on my blog but along with them I would make video tutorials and post them on youtube. So my question or favor I ask of you is…. please like this post if you would like to see me create a youtube channel. Also comment anything you can think of related to me creating a youtube channel. It can be anything from positive to negative. Honestly I work well with creative criticism. I would love it if we kept it positive and if your really interested and would like to persuade me to start a youtube channel I have some questions below that you could comment and answer or even feel free to send me an email.

  • What are some DIY project you would like to see me do?
  • Are you interested in posts/videos about myself?
  • If you have a youtube channel or vlog what tips do you have for getting started?

A big shout out to everyone who likes and comments on my posts. I am doing this for you people and your comments and likes help me. I love feed back and would love to get more. I know my blog is still in the baby stages but I would love to expand and grow in every way. If you are also a blogger and would like to do a collaboration I would love to work on one with someone.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and productive week. For any other college student good luck on all your final assignments of the semester and for those of you graduating congrats!! You did it! Your awesome!

Farewell for now my fellow creators I will be back soon.
